Job Description: Under the direction of a Child Nutrition Supervisor I (CNS) with the Department of Social Services, Family Engagement and Empowerment Division (FEED) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The Child Nutrition Consultant (CNC) performs the more complex, difficult, and sensitive tasks in providing information, leadership, and consultant services to CACFP operators in such areas as nutritional needs of children; evaluating methods of food service; conducting administrative reviews of program operators to determine compliance with applicable laws and rules; assisting operators in planning, developing, and implementing coordinated food service with nutrition education programs; and planning, organizing, and conducting training conferences. Consultants may also provide leadership and training to incumbents in the Child Nutrition Assistant or comparable class. This position requires at least 50 percent travel.


Duties include:

  • 45% CACFP Administrative Review Activities

  • 25% Technical Assistance and Training

  • 15% Resources and Outreach

  • 10% Collaboration and Outreach

  • 5% Other


Desirable Qualifications include:

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Ability and willingness to work independently and within a team environment

  • Ability and willingness to openly communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to develop CACFP training materials and complete presentations

  • Ability to be flexible and open to change
