Job Overview: The Family Engagement and Empowerment Division (FEED) California Department of Social Services, Child and Adult Care Food Program Branch - Field Services Bureau is looking for a dynamic, energetic, highly motivated individuals who have strong leadership skills and is able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Incumbents must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. If you enjoy leading a team and collaborating and working in a team environment to find ways to standardize processes to make them more efficient, this is the perfect position for you.


Incumbents will supervise and assist program staff with conducting administrative reviews, followup reviews and technical assistance reviews of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Operators in order to determine compliance with state laws and federal regulations. The incumbents will review and evaluate reports as result of these administrative reviews.


The CNSI will collaborate with management and stakeholders to establish, educate, evaluate, and continually streamline procedures and other resources to ensure support in communication with our CACFP Operators.


Some duties include:

  • Supervise the activities of staff who are in charge of conducting ARs, management technical reviews, and workshops.

  • Provide TA to staff and agencies participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program, which includes child care centers, day carehomes, adult care centers, at-risk afterschool meals, supplements, and suppers, homeless and emergency shelters, and school age programs.

  • Direct staff in the proper interpretation of applicable laws and regulations that support the legal basis for documenting AR findings.

  • Meet with staff to facilitate a common understanding of CACFP rules and regulations to ensure consistent and defensibleimplementation of policies; distribute current regulations, data, and reports as required.

Working Conditions

Telework / Remote Work Information: Currently, this position has been designated as eligible for telework. The position may require in-person attendance when requested. Candidates must be willing to travel and have the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population


Should the need arise to work in offices, the CNSI will report to the outstation office closest to their homes.

The headquarter location will be designated based on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location.
